Businesses, state institutions, and security agencies in the Northern Region have pledged their support for the successful organisation of the 2026 Northern Business Fair, powered by Channel One TV, with support from Citi FM.
The fair, scheduled for July 25 and 26 at Jubilee Park in Tamale, is expected to bring together businesses, consumers, investors, and other stakeholders to promote trade, showcase local enterprises, and create new market opportunities.
Ahead of the event, organisers engaged key stakeholders across the region to highlight the objectives of the fair and mobilise support for the initiative.
The Mayor of Tamale, Abu Takoro, pledged his support for the programme, promising to engage Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) across the region to participate.
He said the involvement of local authorities will help ensure that the benefits of the fair extend beyond Tamale to other parts of the Northern Region.
“I want to assure you that I will extend an invitation to all MMDCEs in the Northern Region to also pass by on Saturday and Sunday so that together we can extend it to their various districts,” he said.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority, Dr Emmanuel Abeere-Inga, described the fair as an important platform for strengthening the private sector.
He stressed that businesses remain critical to sustainable economic development and must receive the necessary support to grow.
“We all know the saying that the private sector is the engine of growth of the economy. Government projects, by and large, fade away when there is a change in government,” he said.
The Northern Regional Police Command has also assured participants of adequate security throughout the two-day event.
The Regional Police Commander, DCOP Wisdom Lavoe, said the Command is prepared to provide the required security support to ensure a successful fair.
“We are ready to give you all the support you need. We will provide security for you and any other thing you request,” he said.
For exhibitors, the fair presents an opportunity to expand their customer base, increase sales, and build strategic partnerships.
Mary Anne Sarpong Mensah, Marketing Officer for Savanna Opticals, said the previous edition created significant business opportunities and expressed optimism that this year’s event will deliver even greater benefits.
“Last year’s fair was a good one. We had a lot of cash, and we met a lot of new clients. This year, we anticipate it to be better and also an opportunity to build more partnerships for the betterment of the company,” she said.
The Northern Business Fair 2026 will feature businesses showcasing products and services across sectors including agriculture, food processing, fashion, cosmetics, technology, financial services, handicrafts, and household products.
Organisers say the event will provide a platform for businesses to connect with consumers, investors, and potential partners while promoting entrepreneurship and economic growth in Northern Ghana.
The fair is powered by Channel One TV with support from Citi FM and sponsored by Ecobank, the National Petroleum Authority, the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), and Northshore Apparel Ghana Ltd.
