Hundreds of Ghanaians have gathered at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) for the first public viewing of journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ investigative film on corruption in Ghana football.

The expectant viewers began queueing at the venue as early as 10 am on Wednesday.

Some notable personalities spotted at the venue ahead of the premiere were the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak; People’s National Convention (PNC) Chairman, Bernard Mornah; APC Founder, Hassan Ayariga; former Attorney General, Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong; head of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Cudjoe Fianoo; and National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams.

Anticipation for the investigative piece has reached fever-pitch and has dominated the country’s media space in the last couple of weeks.

Among the reasons for the buzz for the premiere is the earlier revelation that the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwasi Nyantakyi used the name of President Akufo-Addo to allegedly solicit bribes from supposed foreign investors.

The Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has also been on a media campaign against Anas Aremeyaw Anas, criticising his methods and threatening to expose him.

The banter between Mr Agyapong and veteran journalist, Kweku Baako, who is a mentor to Anas further heightened expectations ahead of the premiere.
