The six contractors engaged to fix footbridges on the Adentan-Madina Highway have been charged to ensure that they complete the work on time.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo gave the directive on Wednesday as part his tour of the Greater Accra Region.

The six contractors fixing the footbridges at Firestone, Zongo Junction, Redco, Ritz Junction, SDA Junction, and Adenta, have assured the President that they would complete the work within six months.

President Akufo-Addo is currently on a 3-day tour of the Greater Accra Region.

He paid a visit to the Adenta-Madina Highway on Wednesday to inspect ongoing works on the bridges.

It will be recalled that following the recent spate of accidents on the highway, resulting in the loss of lives, the Ministry of Roads and Highways, acting through the Ghana Highway Authority, selected six contractors to construct footbridges and ramps on the road.

The contractors are Fekams Co. Ltd., Highbrains Construction Co. Ltd., Joshob Construction Co. Ltd., First Sky Ltd., Justmoh Construction Limited and Core Construction.

President Akufo-Addo during his tour also commissioned the new ultra-modern Head Office of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, with former mayors of Accra, Nii AmarkaiAmarteifio, Nat Nunoo Amarteifio, Solomon Ofei, Stanley Nii Adjiri Blankson, and Alfred OkoVanderpuije in attendance.

He also commissioned a multi-purpose astro turf mini-stadium and community centre at Sukura in the Ablekuma Central constituency.
