The Assemblies of God Church dedicated its new headquarters in Osu, Accra to the glory of God on Saturday, May 25, 2019. The new building was named the “Great Commission House”

In attendance at the grand event were the Minister of Trade and Industry Alan Kyerematen, who represented the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as the special Guest of Honour; Rev. Douglas Edward Clay General Superintendent Assemblies of God, USA and the host, the General Superintendent, Rev. Paul Frimpong Manso.

The GHc30 million building, funded from the contributions from the church Headquarters, local churches and some other individuals, houses a 27-bedroom guest house, a restaurant; 130 and 70-seater conference rooms, occupied and empty office spaces and 70 and 100 packing spaces, among other things.

Delivering a sermon at the event, Rev. Douglas Edward Clay, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, USA urged the church to continually be the “light of the world”, and to help develop the country in every sphere.

He also admonished Christians to fully dedicate themselves to God and His work.

In his remarks, the General Superintendent, Rev. Paul Frimpong Manso called on church leaders to prioritize the security and safety of its congregation during church services.

His comment comes after recent terrorist attacks on some churches in neighbouring Burkina Faso causing about three hundred of its nationals to flee to Ghana for safety.

“The proliferation of illegal arms and weapons in our sub-region and the increasing security threat against the churches is worrying. While the national security apparatus do their best to protect us, I urge all churches to take their safety and security matters seriously. We must pray, but we must also be observant and cautions in everything we do,” Rev. Paul Frimpong Manso said.

Minister of Trade & Industry Alan Kyerematen, who spoke on behalf of the president called on the Christian community to participate fully in the ongoing Ghana Card Registration.

The mass national identification card registration exercise is ongoing at designated centres in the Greater Accra Region and is expected to move to other regions subsequently.

“I want to take this opportunity to ask all churches in Ghana, to encourage their members to take the national registration exercise for the Ghana Card very seriously. This is because the Ghana Card will provide the holder with enormous benefits, including connectivity to other national platforms, accessibility to every state provided services, authentication and reliability of personal data and other information. It is my wish that the rest of the Christian community in Ghana will continue to partner government to realize our vision of developing a new Ghana Beyond Aid.” Alan Kyerematen urged.

He also urged Ghanaians to part take in the upcoming district level elections to foster development at the grass root.

Some persons like the President, the General Superintendent amongst others were honoured at the event.
