More than 100 retired pastors, their spouses, and widows of deceased ministers of God in the Ashanti Region have benefited from a free medical outreach sponsored by the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Stephen Wengam, and his wife, Lady Mrs Monica Wengam.
A total of 135 beneficiaries drawn from the Ashanti East, Ashanti West, and Ashanti North districts of the church received free medical screening and treatment during the outreach.
The programme was held at the Light House Assembly of God in Kumasi and also included lunch for all participants as well as an undisclosed cash donation to each beneficiary.
Rev. Wengam visited the venue to interact with the retired pastors, their spouses, and widows, stressing the importance of good health and continued care for those who had faithfully served the church.
Medical services were provided by the Cedar Medical Outreach Team, made up of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other health professionals from Cedar Mountain Chapel.
The outreach marks the second time Rev. and Mrs Wengam have organised such a medical programme for retired pastors and their families in the region.
The first exercise was held in February 2022 at the Emmanuel Temple Assembly of God.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the couple for the gesture, describing it as a demonstration of love and appreciation for the sacrifices made by retired ministers and the families of deceased pastors.
