A young entrepreneur in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti Region has received support from the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, John Ampontuah Kumah.

The entrepreneur, David Wakpal Waktech who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Waktech Company Limited is one of the owners of start-ups in the municipality receiving support from the Ejisu MP to sustain and expand their businesses.

The support is part of the “Ejisu Club 100 Project”, an initiative Mr. Ampontuah Kumah is spearheading to empower the youth in his constituency economically.

The initiative seeks to produce 100 entrepreneurs in the Ejisu constituency in the next four years and also address youth unemployment in the long run.

On Saturday, February 13, 2021, the MP visited existing businesses within the constituency to share ideas with their owners on the effective implementation of the project to produce more entrepreneurs in the area.

The MP said he was impressed with the innovation being exhibited by the entrepreneur who is defying all odds to make it.

Waktech, located at Adadientem in the Ejisu Municipality designs and builds hatcheries to support poultry farmers in Ghana.

The hatcheries are uniquely designed and have the capacity of producing 2,000 to 20,000 eggs capacity or even more depending on the specifications by the user.

Mr. Wakpal who has no engineering background is able to build the hatcheries on his own.

Despite his non-engineering background, he taught himself and learned how to build the hatcheries on his own.

“I was impressed with his innovation and drive to grow his business to support farmers in the Poultry sector. I gave him a non-refundable donation of GHS 20,000 to support his working capital and to expand his business to create more jobs”, the MP said.

Mr. Wakpal has also been officially inducted into the Club 100 project.

He will benefit from other packages which include, training and access to new markets among others.

The entrepreneur was thankful for the support and pledged to work hard to impact on the lives of other residents within the Ejisu Constituency.

He described the Ejisu MP as a leader of vision who is poised to liberate the youth in the area from unemployment and also boost the socio-economic development of the constituency.
