‘Remain calm and let’s use set rules to overturn this travesty’ – Michael Yarboi to supporters

The disqualified aspiring parliamentary candidate in the Odododiodioo Constituency, Michael Nii Yarboi, has urged his supporters to remain calm and follow the laid-down principles to seek redress.

Some aggrieved supporters of Mr. Yarboi vandalized the head office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Accra over the disqualification of their candidate.

The angry supporters heaped refuse in front of the party’s head office and blocked the road, slowing traffic. Some supporters also threw bricks at the party head office, damaging some windows of the building.

Responding to the issue in an interview on Thursday, Mr. Yarboi said, “I believe that this should be resolved in the most civilized manner. It shouldn’t involve vandalism and threats. This morning, I have been threatened severally because some of my own supporters believe that I was called into a meeting yesterday, and national executives sat down with me. That is what is being reported — that a certain regional executive has told them that I have been called, and I did accept that this is the way to go before they took the step they took.”

“I am saying here that no such meeting has occurred. I believe that I have restrained my supporters for a very long time. What I will urge is that everyone remains calm while we use the laid-down processes and procedures to seek redress and to overturn this travesty of justice.”
