The Forward Operating Base (FOB), Ashanti of Operation Vanguard, arrested four persons for engaging in illegal mining despite government’s ban on the act.
They were arrested at Freboye in the Asiwa District of the Ashanti Region on Thursday, 24 May 2018.
They were identified as Emmanuel Latsu, 23 years, Dzila Kwesi, 26 years, Yaw Gyamfi, 32 years and Wisdom Gbaffa, also 36 years.
The team also immobilised 11 Changfangs, and a carpet used for washing sand suspected to contain gold.
The suspects were sent to the Asiwa District police station together with the seized items.
