National Democratic Congress [NDC] Presidential Hopeful, Goosie Tanoh, has highlighted the need for the revitalization of the party to capture power in the 2020 elections.

He emphasized that the party requires an individual with the capacity to touch base with the grassroots in a manner that positions the NDC for victory.

[contextly_sidebar id=”D2a1t15L0oVlF1AJWCPo8NRRezd3TyeN”]Goosie Tanoh made these comments at a brief ceremony at the NDC headquarters to present his letter of intent to contest for the flagbearer position of the party.

“We are here today to fulfill a requirement,  as announced by our dear General Secretary to submit our letter of intent, as to the intention of myself Augustus Goosie Tanoh to contest the presidential primaries for the NDC and hopefully with success become the flagbearer for NDC in the 2020 election,” he said.

The General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia said the NDC flagbearer race would be conducted impartially.

“We are not worried if anybody does not bring their letters of intent and they proceed to campaign. They will not be fringing on any of our laws. But if they meet a problem on the field, they will find it problematic to reach anybody to complain to. This is not the first I am presiding over such election, I am sure my record of impartiality when it comes to such elections is already known, and I don’t need to repeat it,” he said.

Eleven members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have so far expressed interest in leading the party into the 2020 elections.

They include former President John Dramani Mahama, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Sylvester Mensah, Dr. Ekwow Spio Garbrah; a former Trade and Industry Minister; Former Vice Chancellor of the University for Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. Joshua Alabi,  Cape Coast South MP, Kweku Ricketts-Hagan and Goosie Tanoh.

Alban Bagbin, Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Stephen Atubiga, member of NDC communications team; Elipklim Agbemava, a lawyer; David Doste Kwame Kuwadah; and a banker and oil and gas consultant, Nurideen Iddrisu.
