A 25-year-old university dropout from Damongo in the Northern Region is appealing to the public to help him raise an amount of $150,000 to enable him to fix an eye condition that affected him since he was a kid.
Sadique Muhsin has been diagnosed with a cataract condition in his left eye as well as a lump beneath his humour layer which his medical report says it can develop into a brain tumour if untreated.
Sadique said he has pains especially in his left eye and constant memory loss.
“I might study very well but during exams I go off. I don’t remember anything,” he lamented.

“We, therefore, request for Gamma knife difference surgery to be done on him. This procedure makes it possible to treat brain tumours in a bloodless and painless fashion without open surgery. However, the procedure cannot be done in Ghana but possibly by one Swiss surgeon in Switzerland with an estimated cost of $155,000,” the report added.

How Sadique got the eye infection
Sadique, who is the second born among five siblings said his mum told him the eye condition started when he was two years old.
“According to my mother, I was very young and about two years old when it started. She said I lost a piece of cloth and she found it two weeks later. So she put it on me. The following night I couldn’t sleep. She said the next month, I was having a bloated head, and my eye started swelling. I was rushed to the Damongo hospital. They did everything they could, and everything was a little bit stabilized, and I was managing the situation until I completed senior high school in 2013.”
Sadique said he got admission to the Damongo nursing training college where he started experiencing pains in his eye and constant memory losses saying “so I had to stop the school.”
“My uncle intervened. He got admission for me at the Tamale Technical University, and I encountered the same problem. So he consulted some doctors. He rushed me to some hospitals in Accra and other places. We were told that my eyes had been infected and there was a need for surgery,” he explained.
Sadique says he has not been able to complete any of the tertiary institutions he got admission to because of his eye condition.
“I haven’t been able to complete any of the schools I mentioned earlier because of the issues with my eyes and the constant memory losses. As at now, I’m not doing anything apart from trying to seek support from the public and all stakeholders who think they can be of help to my situation,” he said.
He further urged Ghanaians to help him regain his eye back saying “when I get my health back, I would like to go back to school; I got computer engineering at the Technical University so I would like to complete and find a job afterwards.”
