The Electoral Commission’s (EC) District Director for Bole in the Savannah Region, Alhassan Yussif Ayuba, has been confirmed dead after a car crash in late hours of Thursday.

The deceased, who was also a former deputy director of communication at the EC, was transporting some electoral materials from Tamale to Bole when the crash occurred.

His driver, Basiru Kojo, was also killed in the crash.

Speaking in an interview with Citi News, the District Director for Tamale, Mr. Lucas Yirel, says the remains Ayubi Yussif have been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital morgue.

Eyewitnesses said a vehicle which had already been involved in an accident at the same spot may have been the cause of the crash.

The driver of the EC officer did not notice vehicle and in an attempt to dodge it, their pick up somersaulted.

Meanwhile, the police officer who was accompanying the two is said to be in a critical condition.
