Delta Air Lines, in partnership with Junior Achievement (JA) Ghana, has successfully held the 3rd edition of the Delta Innovation Camp in Accra.

The event saw over 50 talented university students from across the country converge at the Academic City University College to tackle real-world business challenges in the aviation
industry, enhancing their creative, critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.

The Delta Innovation Camp is an experiential education programme designed to foster an entrepreneurial mindset and inspire the next generation of innovators and leaders.

Participants from this year’s event engaged in a comprehensive workshop on innovation and design thinking, facilitated by experts from the Technology and Innovation Center at Academic City
University College. The workshop equipped students with essential tools and appropriate methodologies to creatively and effectively approach complex challenges.

The one-day immersive programme engaged students in hands-on activities. The students analysed real-life case studies, learning to ideate, prototype, and iterate solutions to various
business problems. Working together in groups, they worked assiduously on the challenge of the day—a real-world problem from the aviation industry. With support from Delta
representatives, volunteers, and coaches, the teams collaborated to develop innovative solutions.

Speaking at the event last Friday, Eloina Baddoo, Delta Air Lines GSA General Manager highlighted the airline’s commitment to investing in future leaders, stating, “We are dedicated to giving back to the communities we serve through initiatives like the Delta Innovation Camp which empowers the next generation of business leaders and workforce.”

Ms Baddoo indicated that the innovation camp provides a resourceful platform for young minds to be creative and acquire design thinking skills.

She expressed her enthusiasm by affirming, “My team and I are passionate about volunteering our time and resources to this impactful camp. The ideas that emerge from the students are truly innovative and rewarding.”

Speaking on the power of working in teams, Executive Director of JA Ghana, Abeiku Greene said, “In solving the problem, different people have different ideas and thus, they work together
to filter out which ideas work best. Eventually, everybody contributes to the final solution.”

Mr Greene emphasised the importance of the camp in shaping the future of Ghana’s youth adding that “Delta’s Innovation Camp has once again proven the incredible potential of Ghana’s youth—their enthusiasm, ideas, and collaborative spirit are proof to the bright future of our country and the aviation industry.”

“By partnering with Delta Air Lines, young people gain skills and experiences to take on the world. We are proud to support their journey and look forward to seeing the impact they
will make in the years to come.”

The programme climaxed with a series of presentations where each team showcased their solutions to a panel of judges comprising industry experts and stakeholders. The innovative ideas and solutions presented by the students were met with enthusiasm and admiration.
