The Public Procurement Authority (PPA) has announced stringent measures to curb the use of fake certificates among suppliers, contractors, and consultants engaged in public procurement.
The Authority stated in a public notice that individuals found with fake certificates will face up to three years of prohibition from participating in public procurement, along with potential criminal prosecution.
PPA warned the public against dealing with unauthorised persons purporting to be its staff or agents, issuing fake certificates, or offering enticing contract opportunities.
Additionally, the PPA has outlined plans to dispose of all expired supplier certificates issued between 2020 and 2023 that will not be collected after Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
Suppliers, contractors, and consultants who have successfully registered on the Suppliers Registration Portal but have yet to collect their certificates are advised to do so by the specified date.
The Authority has also issued a directive for all suppliers, contractors, and consultants to collect their certificates within 20 working days after successful registration or renewal of certificates at the PPA offices located in Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi.
In light of the warning, the PPA has stated that it will not be responsible for any losses incurred from dealings with unauthorized persons.
It further warned individuals who misuse its name and image for fraudulent activities to desist from such acts or face the full rigorousness of the law when caught.
