The African Sustainable Energy Centre (ASEC), a renowned energy think tank, has received four prestigious nominations in the upcoming 8th Ghana Energy Awards.

This recognition underscores ASEC’s commitment to promoting sustainable energy practices and climate resilience solutions across Africa.

ASEC has been nominated in several categories, including Innovation Project of the Year, Energy Think Tank of the Year, Outstanding Local Content Initiative of the Year, and Clean Energy Initiative of the Year.

The organization shares these nominations with prominent institutions such as the Electricity Company of Ghana, Volta River Authority, and GCB Bank PLC.

Organised by the Energy Media Group (EMG) and endorsed by the Ministry of Energy and World Energy Council, the Ghana Energy Awards recognises stakeholders’ contributions to the national economy.

This year’s theme, “The Role of Local Content in Building the Energy Sector,” aims to promote local expertise and technology for a secure and sustainable energy future in Ghana.

Several ASEC members have also received individual nominations for their exceptional contributions to the energy sector.

Ing. Justice Ohene-Akoto, Executive Director, has been nominated for Visionary Leadership.

Additionally, Karikari Achireko Kwagyan, Director of Energy & Climate Finance, Miriam Randolph-Akushie, Director of Business Development, and Dr. Elvis Twumasi, Director of Research & Innovation, have been recognised as Rising Star Individuals.

Dr. Elvis Twumasi has also been nominated for the Energy Advocate, Green Trailblazer, and Energy Signature Award, while Karikari Achireko Kwagyan shares the Green Trailblazer nomination.

As an independent think tank, ASEC pioneers sustainable energy practices and climate resilience solutions across Africa.

Comprising experts from various fields, ASEC provides unbiased discourse on energy and critiques government policies. Its mission is to provide solutions and a blueprint for sustainable energy, both currently and for the future.

The 8th Ghana Energy Awards ceremony promises to be an exciting celebration of excellence in the energy sector, and ASEC’s nominations are a testament to its dedication to shaping a sustainable energy future for Ghana and beyond.
