The official launch of the Australian Ghana Chamber of Commerce (AGCC) took place in Sydney with a vibrant cultural celebration and key trade presentations, marking a significant step toward enhancing economic ties between Ghana and Australia.
The program began with a lively performance by the Salaka Dance Ensemble from Ghana, infusing the event with traditional energy and setting a dynamic tone for the evening. Bishop Richard Asamoah Boateng, President of the Chamber, opened the event with heartfelt remarks, elaborating on the Chamber’s mission to bridge economic partnerships, cultural exchanges, and investment opportunities between the two nations.
The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) and the Australian Industry Group provided insightful trade addresses, focusing on mutual business prospects. Although Yoofi Grant, CEO of GIPC, was unable to attend in person, he shared a pre-recorded video message that highlighted key investment opportunities in Ghana, emphasizing sectors like agriculture, mining, and technology.
Mr. Terry Crotty, Regional Manager for the Australian Industry Group in New South Wales (NSW), further discussed avenues for Australian businesses to explore investment in Ghana and strengthen bilateral trade.
The event was graced with numerous goodwill messages from political and diplomatic figures. Representing the Dean of the African Diplomatic Group, H.E. Joe Tapera’s delegation delivered a message of solidarity.
Video messages from Hon. Charisma Kaliyanda, Member for Liverpool, and a live address by Hon. Nathan Hagarty, Member for Leppington, reaffirmed the Australian government’s commitment to fostering stronger ties with Ghana.
H.E. Berenice Owen-Jones, though unable to attend, sent a video expressing her support for the initiative, reinforcing the role of diplomacy in furthering bilateral relations.
The highlight of the evening was the keynote address and formal declaration of the launch by H.E. Samuel Yao Kumah, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Australia.
His speech underscored the importance of the AGCC in creating a vibrant business environment that fosters collaboration, innovation, and development between the two countries. A special moment during the event was the presentation of the Product Recognition Award by H.E. Samuel Yao Kumah.
The award recognized outstanding Ghanaian businesses for their excellence, with PGK Medicals and Gifty’s Ghana Kitchen being the proud recipients.
