The Deputy Communication Officer of the Mahama Campaign Team, Beatrice Annan, has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of prioritising vote-buying over addressing the needs of Ghanaians.
She asserted that the party deliberately impoverishes citizens to exploit them during election periods.
Speaking on The Big Issue on Channel One TV, Annan claimed that the NPP lacks respect for the people of Ghana, employing short-term financial inducements to sway voters instead of delivering meaningful governance.
“It is not just the Ashanti Region, but generally the NPP does not respect the people of Ghana. I am fortified in my belief that the NPP believe in ‘let’s impoverish the people, let’s make the standard of living so unbearable that when it is an election and we bring money to them, they can feel a certain short-term ease,” she stated.
“It is an eye saw that in eight years, the discussion will not be about whether we have been able to achieve anything. I say that when it comes to the issue of campaigns, health and the economy, we don’t have to politicise it because when you fall sick and you go to the hospital, nobody will ask you who built the hospital or whether you belong to the NDC or the NPP.
“But this government politicises everything. It is an election, so the NPP are in the Ashanti Region for two weeks, spending more resources there,” she said.
