Police launch investigation into disruption at Metro TV

The Ghana Police Service has commenced an investigation into an incident that occurred at the premises of Metro TV in Accra, on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

Reportedly, some police officers and a court bailiff stormed the premises of Metro TV to interrupt a live broadcast over a long-standing debt owed to Vodacom.

The alleged debt, which dates back over three years, has triggered legal action, leading to the issuance of a writ of execution permitting the seizure of assets.

Sources indicate that the dispute is a private business matter unrelated to politics, contrary to speculations circulating in the public domain.

The bailiff, armed with the court order, attempted to take possession of Metro TV’s property but was met with resistance from the station’s private security personnel.

The Police in a statement issued on Wednesday said preliminary investigations indicate that upon a request from the court, Police Officers accompanied a court bailiff in the company of the judgment creditor, Vodacom Business (Ghana) Limited, to execute a court order against Metro TV.

The police urged the public, particularly the management and staff of Metro TV, to remain calm and cooperate with the Police in the ongoing investigation.
