We identified serialisation errors, not EC – NDC agents

Benedict Boye, an agent of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), claims that he and other NDC agents were the ones who detected errors in the serialisation of ballot papers for the Ahafo and Volta regions.

This is contrary to the EC’s assertion that challenges with the serialisation were brought to the attention of the Commission by the EC Team stationed at the said Printing House and also confirmed by the Audit Department of the Commission.

The Commission stated that no Political Party, whether formally or informally, notified the Commission about the challenges with serialisation at the Printing House, even though their agents were present throughout the process.

But Boye expressed surprise at the EC’s claim in an interview with Citi News at Nsawam during the EC’s destruction of the defective ballot papers, stating, “I can also tell you that my brother standing over here and the other one, we were the people who detected that. We detected it and told them.

“So it is coming as a surprise to me. Of course, we are there to check all those things. The moment we detect something, there are supervisors over there we are supposed to tell before we tell our superiors.”

Boye said the errors were found during a random check by him and his colleagues.

“It was a random check. Myself and my two other colleagues were just checking. It was just a random check, picking up the 100 books, checking the serial number, and then we found out that some were 107, 105, and stuff,” he explained.

Boye stressed that due to the errors found in the Volta region, the NDC agents had to re-audit the already bagged Ahafo parliamentary and presidential ballot papers.

“Before then, we had already bagged Ahafo parliamentary and presidential, but because of what we found in the Volta region, we had to break the seals again to audit the Ahafo,” Boye added.
