I expect good governance from Mahama

The Chairman of the NDC-UK & Ireland Chapter, Conrad Dumbah, has shared his expectations for effective governance under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the needs of Ghanaians nationwide.

Speaking on the Point Blank segment of Eyewitness News on January 10, 2025, Mr. Dumbah highlighted the significance of addressing fundamental challenges such as access to water, roads, and electricity to ensure better living conditions and economic growth.

“I will use a generic word, which is good governance, where good governance means serving people and giving them their needs. Doing it means you look at the what and the how,” he stated.

Mr Dumbah stressed the urgent need for improved road infrastructure, describing current conditions as hazardous and unacceptable. He also called for increased access to electricity to support the implementation of the government’s 24-hour economy policy.

“What is good governance? It is making sure that all the villages we went through, and the needs of the people across the length and breadth of the country, are met. When my team from the UK came in to support me during the campaign, what we were hearing from the people was sometimes sad. Water, boreholes—how much does it cost to drill a borehole for a whole community?

“From Wa to Accra is a nightmare. Crossing from Bolga to Wa is a nightmare. Even from Accra going up north, it’s like a death trap. So, the road infrastructure must be improved, and also electricity, which is going to help us with the 24-hour economy,” he added.

Mr Dumbah reiterated that addressing these critical needs would reflect the administration’s commitment to good governance and the well-being of all Ghanaians.
