President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Emmanuel Siisi Quainoo as the acting Commissioner of the Gaming Commission of Ghana.

Mr. Quainoo’s appointment was announced in a January 22 letter signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President.

The appointment, which aligns with Article 195(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 67 of the Gaming Act, 2006 (Act 721) is part of the President’s quest and promise to form his government within 14 days.

According to the letter, Mr. Quainoo’s position as Acting Commissioner is pending the receipt of the constitutionally mandated advice of the governing board, as stipulated in consultation with the Public Services Commission.

“I write to formally inform you that the President of the Republic, in accordance with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 67 of the Gaming Act, 2006 (Act 721), has appointed you as the Acting Commissioner of Gaming Commission of Ghana, pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the governing board, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission,” the letter read in part.

The Gaming Commission of Ghana, tasked with regulating the operations of casinos, sports betting, and other forms of gaming in the country, plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with national laws, promoting responsible gaming, and safeguarding public interests.
