Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has threatened to take legal action against President John Dramani Mahama over the revocation of appointments made after the December 7, 2024, elections during Akufo-Addo’s tenure.
On February 11, the Chief of Staff issued a letter revoking all such appointments to the public service, stating that the directive had been communicated to all heads of government institutions.
The decision was based on concerns that the appointments did not align with established good governance practices and principles. The letter further instructed institutions to nullify the appointments, take immediate action, and submit a report by February 17, 2025.
In a statement on February 12, Nana B argued that the president had no legal grounds to terminate these appointments. He vowed to defend the affected individuals, emphasizing that the President’s oath was to uphold the Constitution, not to abuse it.

Henry Nana Boakye – Nana B
It has been more than a month since President John Mahama took the Presidential oath to “at all times preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of Ghana”; and so where from this attempt to terminate legitimate and lawful appointments of hard working Ghanaian Youth who have complied with due process of law to secure their appointments.
Has the President so soon forgotten that he also swore to submit himself to the laws of Ghana?. The President should know, that there is no legal ground for terminating any appointment known as “good governance practices and principles”.
Notice is hereby served that I shall head to the Court to defend these young people and remind the President that his oath was to defend the Constitution and not to abuse it.
My lawyers, Nana Baffour Awuah Esq and Nicholas Lenin Anane Agyei Esq., should stand ready to defend the Constitution.
