Samuel Atta Akyea, lawyer for former National Signals Bureau (NSB) boss Kwabena Adu-Boahene, says the defence team will not contest the court’s decision to remand his client, opting instead to allow state investigators to complete their work without obstruction.
This follows the Accra High Court’s decision on Friday, May 2, 2025, to remand Adu-Boahene into the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for seven days.
The ruling came after Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, urged the court to grant the remand request, citing intelligence that Adu-Boahene had attempted to interfere with a key prosecution witness in an ongoing alleged stealing case.
Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News on the same day, Atta Akyea said the defence would not appeal the court’s order, describing the decision as a strategic choice.
“We will wait. That is the sound thing we want to do,” he stated. “We want to wait and let them comb the whole of the universe and find their evidence. We will meet them in court.”
