The Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga has slammed the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, over what he deems as the recent attempts to use Parliament as a platform to intimidate state institutions executing their duties.
This comes in response to an attempt by the Minority Leader to condemn the Economic and Organised Crime Office EOCO for the two-week detention of the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company, Abdul-Wahab Hannan, who is currently under investigation for suspected economic crimes.
Hannan was released by EOCO on Tuesday, July 8.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, July 8, Mahama Ayariga charged the Minority Leader to seek legal redress if Abdul-Wahab’s rights have been violated.
“I have a problem where we try to use this house as a platform to intimidate the Executive arm of government doing their work. The constitution is very clear on the remedies available to anybody who claims a violation of his/ her rights.
“The constitution is very clear. If anybody feels their rights have been violated, you go to court and you seek a remedy there,” he stated.
