‘I’m still at post’ – ‘Ousted’ Assin North YEA Director

The Assin North District Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), who was chased out by some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), says he remains at post regardless.

According to Christian Ankomahene Amoah he has not received any official notice revoking or terminating his appointment. Neither has there been any reassigning him.

Some supporters stormed the premises of the YEA district directorate, broke the locks and fixed new ones on Monday, July 21.

The group also announced that the party’s constituency Youth Organiser, Francis Bright Ativi, was officially appointed to the post of Director of the YEA in fulfilment of an arrangement made prior to the 2024 elections to have constituency Youth Organisers serve as YEA Directors.

However, speaking to Citi News, Ankomahene strongly stated that “once I have not received any instructions from my superiors, I remain at post and will continue to discharge my official duties. I was in Koforidua last weekend, where I presented some youth for training into several modules, so I’m working”.

Reacting to claims that he deliberately bypassed his boss to claim the position, Ankomahene told Citi News that his boss, Francis Bright Ativi, had earlier rejected the position.

“This sudden U-turn comes as a surprise to me. He, Ativi, had expressed disinterest in the YEA job, and I gladly accepted it. I suspect he’s being influenced,” he stated.

Both parties currently bear appointment and posting letters signed by the YEA’s Chief Executive Officer, Malik Basintale.
