The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has announced that the next batch of police recruitment will prioritise Community Protection Assistants (CPAs), commonly known as Community Police, following an agreement with the Ghana Police Service.

This was disclosed during the passing-out ceremony of 955 CPAs at the Ashanti Regional Police Training School in Kumasi under the YEA initiative.

The CPA training programme, rolled out by YEA, aims to provide decent employment opportunities for young people while strengthening community policing nationwide.

Addressing the new graduates on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation at YEA, Habib Kipo, urged them to remain disciplined, hardworking, and committed to maintaining peace and order in their respective communities. He stressed that CPAs would be given priority in future police recruitment exercises since they already possess basic policing skills and field experience.

“As part of creating sustainable jobs, our CEO, Malik Basintale, together with the Minister of the Interior and our sector minister for Youth and Employment, appealed to the Police Command and the Inspector-General of Police that priority be given to our gallant trainees in future recruitment.

“These young men and women have already been trained in basic policing and the rudiments of law enforcement, and are well placed to be absorbed into mainstream policing. That is what we are all working towards,” Mr. Kipo said.
