Presidential Jet: ‘Ghana expects your resignation’ – Ntim Fordjour to Ablakwa

The Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has called for the resignation of the Foreign Affairs Minister and North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

This follows Ablakwa’s persistent criticism of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s use of private jets for international travels, and his earlier public declaration that he would resign if his own government did the same when in power.

In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, August 18, Rev. Fordjour accused Ablakwa of engaging in “petty politics” over presidential jet usage and travel expenses.

“Mr Principle @S\_OkudzetoAblak, Ghana is expecting your resignation,” the former Deputy Education Minister posted.

He further stated that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) must apologise to Ghanaians and former President Akufo-Addo for politicising presidential travels.

He also urged the government to boldly propose the acquisition of a new presidential jet to ensure the President’s safety.

“NDC must apologise to Ghanaians and Prez Akufo-Addo for doing petty politics with presidential travels. Govt must be bold to submit proposal for the acquisition of new Presidential Jet for the President’s safety,” he wrote.

His post comes after President Mahama embarked on a two-nation trip to Japan and Singapore, reportedly on a commercial flight instead of the nation’s presidential jet, which is undergoing servicing in France.
