The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Wa in the Upper West Region, Issah Nura Danwana, has appealed for calm following the tragic killing of a night security guard at the Dobile Electoral Area over the weekend.
The Wa Municipality was thrown into shock last Saturday after the death of Yahya Issa, popularly known as Soja.
Speaking to journalists, the MCE said he was informed of the incident by National Security and rushed to the scene. He described the killing as deeply disturbing and noted that residents have repeatedly raised concerns about security in parts of the municipality.
“This is very sad for us. This was reported to me by National Security, so I had to rush to the scene,” he said.
He added that poor street lighting in some areas has been a challenge. “We have issues with streetlights. When I assumed office, we provided some, and I took it upon myself to ensure the situation is fixed. I even called for a regional security meeting to discuss how to improve street lighting,” Mr. Danwana explained.
