Graduates from the 2023 batch of Colleges of Education are appealing to the government to post them to schools, almost two years after completing their training.
The graduates say they have met all the requirements for employment, including completing their national service and passing the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination. However, they are still waiting to be deployed.
According to the group, led by Eshun De-Graft Brown, Vice President of the Concerned Unemployed Teacher Trainees, several letters and meetings have been held with the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Finance. Despite these efforts, they have not received any update or posting date.
With their teaching licenses set to expire soon, the graduates say they are becoming frustrated and worried about their future.
“As the budget reading approaches, we are hopeful that this time our concerns will be addressed,” said Eshun De-Graft Brown. “We urge the government to prioritize our posting and ensure we are integrated into the education system.”
The graduates are calling on authorities to act quickly and provide a clear plan for their recruitment, after what they describe as repeated disappointments from previous budget promises.
