The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has announced plans to embark on a revenue mobilisation drive starting Monday, 10th November 2025, to recover all outstanding payments owed to the Assembly for the 2025 fiscal year.
In a statement, the AMA said the move forms part of measures to boost revenue collection and strengthen service delivery across the capital. The exercise will see a Revenue Mobilisation Task Force deployed to inspect business establishments, properties, and advertising sites to reconcile bills and collect arrears.
According to the Assembly, the task force will verify payments for Business Operating Permits (BOPs), Property Rates, Outdoor Advertising Fees, and Rents. Ratepayers are required to present valid payment receipts during the verification process.
The statement further advised business operators and property owners to leave copies of their receipts with caretakers when unavailable to prevent penalties.
“The Assembly will not entertain any excuses from defaulters or their agents. All ratepayers are therefore advised to ensure full compliance,” the statement warned.
The AMA added that the exercise would also clamp down on unauthorised billboards across the metropolis. Any billboard erected without the appropriate permit, it cautioned, would be dismantled, with the cost of removal charged to the responsible company.
It called on all ratepayers to cooperate fully with the task force, noting that the funds raised would support key development projects, including sanitation management, infrastructure upgrades, and public safety improvements.
“The Assembly urges all ratepayers to support this important exercise, as the funds collected will enable the AMA to continue delivering essential services for the benefit of all residents of Accra,” the statement concluded.
