Christ the King International School (CTKIS) has announced the launch of its 70th anniversary celebration, a milestone year that marks seven decades of academic excellence, faith, and service. The launch event which took place on November 26, 2025, was under the distinguished patronage of the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra Archdiocese, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie Cssp.

Established in 1956 with a motto “That all may be one,” CTKIS has grown into a prestigious educational institution, known for its academic excellence and upright moral upbringing of pupils. Over the years, the school has produced intelligent, innovative, and smart graduates in various fields, contributing immensely to the development of Ghana and beyond.

Mr. Francis Kobena Addison, CEO of QIC, an alumnus of Christ the King International school and the Chairman for the 70th anniversary launch, reflected on his personal journey at Christ the King International School, crediting the institution for instilling resilience, discipline, and values that shaped his success.

He emphasized that the 70th Anniversary is a call to duty to support the next generation, highlighting the need for collective support to enhance facilities, innovative learning, and values-based education.

Mr. Samuel Kingsford Arthur Esq, Board Chairman of CTKIS, expressed his excitement about how far the school has come, nurturing and building some of the nations’ distinguished professionals. He stated, “This milestone is not only an opportunity to celebrate the past but also a moment to envision the future. Our theme for this 70th anniversary, ‘Honouring 70 years of grace, growth, and greatness,’ reflects both our gratitude and our aspirations.”

Mr. Arthur Esq. added that while the school continued to grow in strength, the journey ahead required even greater dedication, innovation, and collaboration, and therefore encouraged students, parents, staff, alumni, parish community, and partners ‘to come together in thanksgiving and renewal, and commit ourselves to preparing Christ the King International School for the next generation and beyond.’

Rev. Fr. Dr. George Obeng Appah, Chairman, Education Committee, who spoke on behalf of the Archbishop, added that in a world that is fast changing, Christ the King International School for the past 70 years has shaped the hearts and minds of children, instilling “discipline and values that have carried them through life far more than any exam score.”

Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Portia Felice Mensah, recounted the school’s journey and seized the opportunity to “honour the selfless and unparalleled dedication of our founders, patrons, teachers, and parents who have laboured tirelessly but joyously to nurture young minds, foster character, and cultivate leaders.”

She called on all stakeholders, ‘especially the alumni, to recommit to our collective responsibility: to provide world-class infrastructure, empowering our students to thrive in an ever-changing world. Together, let us synergise and harness our collective energies, expertise, and resources to create a seismic shift in the lives of our children, our community, and beyond.’

The anniversary celebration will feature a year-long program of events, including community outreach initiatives, leadership summits, student essay and art competitions, fundraising galas, and alumni meetups. The events aim to inspire unity, excellence, and renewed purpose among the CTKIS community.

The school invites all friends, parents, alumni, and well-wishers to support CTKIS’ redevelopment Project. Contributions can be made to the CTKIS 70th Anniversary Account at Standard Chartered Bank, Liberia Road Branch, Account Number: 0100113350101.
