The Ministry of Roads and Highways has been named the “PR Organisation of the Year (Public Sector)” at the prestigious Institute of Public Relations (IPR) Ghana Excellence Awards held on Friday. The accolade recognises the Ministry’s commitment to transparent communication, stakeholder engagement, and innovative public relations practices within Ghana’s public sector.
The award honours a public institution that demonstrates outstanding leadership in communication, implements best-in-class PR strategies, and enhances its brand reputation and public trust. The Ministry distinguished itself by consistently making information on road infrastructure development accessible, timely, and impactful for all citizens.
Speaking after receiving the award, the Head of Public Relations Unit, Alhaji Nasir Ahmad Yartey, expressed gratitude to IPR Ghana for the recognition.
“We are deeply honoured by this recognition. Effective communication is central to our mandate, and this award reaffirms our commitment to keeping Ghanaians informed about the delivery of critical road infrastructure across the country. We dedicate this achievement to our hardworking staff and partners whose professionalism continues to drive our communication excellence,” he said.
Over the past year, the Ministry has intensified its communication efforts through proactive media engagements, community outreach programmes, and strengthened stakeholder relationships. These initiatives have improved public understanding of ongoing projects, enhanced transparency in project timelines, and increased confidence in the Ministry’s work.
The Ministry’s Public Relations Unit has also introduced digital communication tools, including enhanced social media reporting, visual storytelling of national infrastructure progress, and robust crisis communication systems to respond swiftly and accurately to public concerns.
The IPR Ghana Excellence Awards, the highest recognition for communication professionals and institutions in the country, celebrate organisations and individuals who demonstrate exceptional performance, accountability, and innovation in public relations.
The Ministry of Roads and Highways remains committed to sustaining its communication reforms and further strengthening engagement with citizens as it works to deliver safe, resilient, and modern road infrastructure for national development.
