The National Communications Authority (NCA) has confirmed that the increased DSTV subscription value packages in Ghana, implemented on October 1, 2025, remain in effect.

In a statement dated December 31, the NCA said the stakeholder committee, chaired by the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations (MoCDTI), continues to monitor the impact of the pricing and value adjustments.

The NCA noted that Ghanaians have largely responded positively, resulting in a significant rise in DSTV subscriptions.

The statement emphasised that the committee, which includes representatives from MoCDTI, NCA, and Multichoice, is also collaborating with the Cybersecurity Authority and other agencies to address the growing problem of illegal streaming.

According to the statement, pay-TV piracy leads to losses in tax revenue, reduced earnings for the creative industry, and exposes consumers to cyber threats such as malware and phishing.

“The working group will continue its engagements to ensure that mutual commitments to the objectives are attained,” the NCA said.

The statement reaffirms the regulator’s position that DSTV’s value-added packages “remain in force” while urging the public to remain vigilant against illegal streaming platforms.
