The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA) and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area have broken ground for the construction of a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Kpoi-Ete.
The project is part of the government’s efforts to expand access to quality primary healthcare, particularly in underserved communities.
Joseph Akuerteh Tettey, MP for Kpone-Katamanso, said the current government was development-oriented and committed to improving citizens’ well-being nationwide. He added that the CHPS compound would significantly enhance healthcare delivery in Kpoi-Ete by bringing essential services closer to residents.
“Access to basic healthcare is critical to national development,” he said, assuring the community that the government would continue prioritising social infrastructure, especially in deprived areas.
Mr Samuel Tetteh Kwashie Morton, MCE of KKMA, said the assembly would closely supervise the project to ensure the contractor adhered to specifications, stressing that quality and timely delivery would not be compromised.
He also revealed that plans were advanced to construct a police station and a fire service station in the area to strengthen security and emergency response.
The MCE advised the contractor to engage local indigenes in the project to accelerate progress and provide temporary employment for the youth.
Nene Tetteh Abladu II, Kpoi-Ete Mantse, expressed gratitude to the government and municipal assembly for the long-overdue project, urging swift execution to meet the healthcare needs of residents.
He noted that the community had been deprived of development for a long time and called for intensified efforts to improve living conditions.
The Kpoi-Ete CHPS facility is expected to be completed within 11 months. Kpoi-Ete, a coastal community of about 400 people, lies along the shoreline where Kpone and Prampram share a boundary.
