The Member of Parliament (MP) for Sefwi Akontombra, Joseph Appiah and District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Pious Kwame Nkuah, have commissioned a Community Health- Based Planning Services (CHPS) compound for the people of Sefwi Shed community.

Speaking at the ceremony, the DCE noted that the move formed part of the government’s interventions to complete all stalled or uncompleted projects to improve upon healthcare delivery.

He said the CHPS compound would help improve access to quality healthcare delivery within the Sefwi Shed community and its environs.

Mr Nkuah pointed out that the facility would go a long way to provide primary healthcare services closer to the people, save beneficiary communities from travelling for many hours for medical attention, and enhance maternal and child health services.

The DCE commended the collaborative efforts by the Member of Parliament that led to the completion of the project and reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure across the district.

Mr Joseph Appiah, the MP, also reiterated his support for initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of the constituents, nothing that health remained a key priority in the district’s development agenda.

Nana Yaw Badu II, the Chief of Amafie, who doubles as the Twafohene of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area, praised the MP and the DCE for their joint efforts to provide them with the health centre, and pledged to ensure regular maintenance of the facility to benefit future generations.

Nana Badu mentioned the lack of portable drinking water, poor road networks in some areas, and poor telecommunications networks as some of the major challenges facing the people.

Dr Iddrissu Kunamsi, the Akontombra District Director of Health, gave the assurance that the health professionals would provide quality service to the community members.

At a separate ceremony, after the commission of the CHPS compound, the DCE and his team moved to hand-over a mechanised borehole to residents of the Asantekrom community.
