The Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano South West, Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah, has assured New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant Dr. Bryan Acheampong of overwhelming support from the Ahafo bloc ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for Saturday, January 31.

According to the MP, the constituencies of Ahafo Ano North, Ahafo Ano South East, and Ahafo Ano South West are firmly behind Dr. Acheampong’s bid to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.

Addressing party supporters and delegates, Mr. Dapaah expressed confidence in Dr. Acheampong’s leadership abilities and vision for rebuilding the NPP, urging party members to remain united behind his candidature.

He described Dr. Acheampong as the aspirant best positioned to unite the party and lead it to victory in 2028.

He further noted that Dr. Acheampong has maintained a long-standing relationship with the people of the Ahafo bloc, which he said accounts for the growing support for his candidature in the area.

Speaking to Citi News on Tuesday, January, Mr. Dapaah said his confidence was based on observations from the campaign trail, noting that the enthusiasm among delegates and supporters pointed to strong momentum for Dr. Acheampong’s campaign.

He added that a decisive victory in the primaries would strengthen unity within the party ahead of the 2028 elections.

“We are not just looking at academic credentials; we want a leader who can unite the party. We believe Dr. Bryan Acheampong is the only aspirant who can bring all factions together. That is why we have resolved that, come Saturday, we will vote for him. His leadership will not benefit only a few people but every delegate and party member. This message has motivated us to fully support his candidature,” he said.

Mr. Dapaah indicated that the Ahafo bloc would give its full backing to Dr. Acheampong and expressed confidence that he would emerge victorious in the upcoming NPP flagbearer election.

The assurance comes as the NPP intensifies internal campaigning ahead of the January 31 presidential primaries, with several sitting Members of Parliament publicly declaring support for Dr. Acheampong.

Among them are the Member of Parliament for Okere, Daniel Nana Addo-Kenneth; the Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davis Ansah Opoku; the Member of Parliament for New Juaben North, Nana Osei-Adjei; and Alexander Akwasi Acquah, all of whom have pledged strong backing from delegates in their respective constituencies.
