Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has called on the Ministry of Education to urgently recall all textbooks and teaching materials he says contain unapproved LGBTQ-related content.
In an interview on Citi Eyewitness News on Tuesday January 13, Rev. Fordjour described the situation as “alarming” and urged authorities to review all teacher manuals and learning materials that, in his view, have been “poisoned” with content promoting LGBTQ issues.
“We find this so alarming. I drew the attention of the public and the key actors, the Ministry of Education, that they must quickly recall all these textbooks that are already printed. They should recall all of them and, as they recall, they should also review every portion of our teacher manuals, our teacher and learning materials that have insidiously included this alien unapproved content promoting LGBTQ,” he said.
Rev. Fordjour has previously accused the government of attempting to introduce an LGBTQ agenda into Ghana’s school curriculum.
He claims the alleged inclusion of such content contradicts the NPP’s public stance on LGBTQ issues and is linked to delays in Parliament’s consideration of the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill.
“This diabolical and dangerous agenda, among others, reveals why this government has suppressed the private members’ bill from being listed on the Order Paper for consideration and consequential passage by Parliament,” he said.
The MP has called for immediate action from the Ministry of Education to prevent the distribution of materials he considers inappropriate and to ensure that all teaching resources align with approved content.
