Indiscipline, laziness accounting for low productivity, not prayer gatherings – Prophet Anokye

Founder of Worldwide Word Ministries – The Hill City Church, Prophet John Anokye, has attributed Ghana’s low productivity to indiscipline, laziness, and weak national work policies rather than lack of prayers.

Speaking as an employer with business experience, Prophet Anokye said inexperienced politicians and government appointees become “selfish and self‑centred when given the chance to serve the nation,” hindering their ability to make a meaningful impact.

At the church’s 10th anniversary launch at East Legon on Monday, February 9, 2026, he argued that “many of these officials have never established businesses anywhere in the world and often travel for sightseeing rather than business purposes, leaving them without a true understanding of business structures and policies.”

The prophet also criticised Ghana’s work policy framework, describing it as “very weak” because it fails to monitor workers’ conduct effectively.

He contrasted Ghana with countries like the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and other Arab nations, where worker behaviour is strictly regulated, and productivity is boosted through robust management systems and surveillance (including CCTV).

In Ghana, he alleged that some ministry employees tamper with machines, claiming they are faulty while actually adjusting them to loot national resources.

Prophet Anokye called for the introduction of “rigorous, authoritative management systems in Ghana to regulate workers’ daily functions, identify talents, and improve productivity.”

He emphasised that “leadership must enforce policies and regulations to align workers with national interests rather than personal gain.”
