The Savannah Regional House of Chiefs has sworn in six new members, including the Damongowura, Seidu Kelly Boresa I; the Kpansheguwura, F. A. Adams Borewunche I; the Kulibuwura, Osman Keli IV; the Jantongwura, Mahama Kebase I; the Tuluwera, Purgi Budon I; and the Nnaa, Solomon Dompeeh Antwi Jugboi Koro.

The ceremony highlighted the critical role of traditional authorities in governance, peacebuilding, and development in the Savannah Region.

Reading a speech on behalf of the President of the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, the Vice President of the House and Paramount Chief of the Kpembe Traditional Area, Kpembewura Bambange Ndefoso IV, disclosed that the House was operating without a permanent office complex.

He described the situation as a major constraint to the effective administration and smooth functioning of the House.

“The Savannah Regional House of Chiefs does not have a permanent office complex. This challenge continues to affect our administrative efficiency and our ability to effectively discharge our constitutional mandate,” he said, appealing to the government and relevant stakeholders to provide the necessary infrastructure to enhance the House’s work.

Kpembewura Ndefoso IV also commended the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government for efforts made so far to fulfil its social contract with Ghanaians since assuming office in January 2025.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Savannah Regional Minister, Mr Salisu Be-Awuribe, assured the House of the Regional Coordinating Council’s readiness to work closely with traditional authorities.

“The Regional Coordinating Council is always prepared to support our traditional authorities, provided the issues involved are legal and legitimate.

“However, matters of criminal jurisdiction do not fall under the authority of traditional councils or the areas over which chiefs president,” he stated.
