President John Dramani Mahama has affirmed his commitment to fully roll out the 24-Hour Economy initiative, describing it as a bold step toward economic transformation in Ghana.
Addressing the nation on Friday, February 27, President Mahama commended Parliament for approving the 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill, noting that the approval paved the way for its formal assent.
“I want to thank this House. On February 6, 2026, the House passed the 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill, establishing the regulatory framework and legal mandate necessary for full implementation. All is now set for take-off,” he stated.
According to him, the initiative will enable businesses to operate beyond traditional hours, attract investment through strategic partnerships with the Development Bank of Ghana and the Ghana Infrastructure Development Fund, and strengthen the foundation for sustained economic growth and job creation, particularly for young people.
“In this year’s budget, 110 million has been allocated to begin the setting up and implementation of the 24-Hour Economy Authority. These resources will enable businesses to trade beyond traditional business hours,” he said.
He termed the initiative as a robust measure that will not only expand trading opportunities but also boost productivity, attract foreign and domestic investment, and solidify Ghana’s position as a resilient and innovative economy in the region.
