Three weeks after a major fire gutted Tip Toe Lane in Circle, traders are still struggling to recover from the loss of their shops and merchandise.
During a follow-up visit by Citi News, victims said the relief provided by the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) — including rice, oil, maize, and mattresses — was insufficient to rebuild their businesses.

“This is where we work to take care of our children, but everything has been burnt. We have nothing left. One of our sisters had an old canopy with torn material; that is what we are using now. We are pleading with government to intervene,” one trader said.

Another added, “I have six children to take care of. We want our land back so we can put up kiosks or containers and start working again.”
The traders are appealing to government and other stakeholders for urgent support to restore their livelihoods and rebuild their businesses.
