Osabarima Okurupi Botuo Danquah I, the Chief of Akyem Segyimase in the Abuakwa South Municipality has called on traditional leaders across the country to embrace and own government’s sanitation day exercise to ensure that their various traditional areas are always kept clean and tidy.
He made this statement after joining about 300 community members including youth and elders of Segyimase to observe the National Sanitation Day on Saturday, March 7.

He indicated that he has instituted sanctions for all members of the community who failed to turn up for the communal labour.
“If you fail to participate, we summon you at the palace. I have done this for some time. I even sent my own brother to court. To be in a community and not participate, we won’t allow you,” he said.

On his part, the Municipal Chief Executive for Abuakwa South, Nana Adu Sarpong Addo Aikins lauded the corporation of the Abuakwa traditional authorities in making the sanitation day a success.
He further called for greater collaboration in sustaining it.
“The president’s initiative is very vital for our local development and so they should actively participate,” he stressed.
