The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, has urged Muslims to celebrate Eid al-Fitr within the bounds of decency, modesty, and the law.

In a message, the Chief Imam congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of the fasting period in Ramadan and the celebration of Eid al-Fitr.

He explained that Muslims who observe the fast are expected to attain a level of piety, as prescribed in the Quran, and stressed that this spiritual reward should be reflected in their conduct.

“His Eminence the National Chief Imam, Shaikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, congratulates the Muslim fraternity on the successful end of fasting in the Holy Month of Ramadan and the observation of Eid Al-Fitr. He, however, advised the Ummah to celebrate the Eid within the bounds of decency, modesty, and legality,” the statement said.

According to him, the value of the spiritual cleansing achieved during Ramadan lies in its ability to bring about positive behavioural change that aligns with societal norms and the laws of the state.

He described Eid al-Fitr as not only a time for celebration but also a moment for reflection, urging Muslims to uphold values that promote the well-being of society.

The Chief Imam also called on Ghanaians to prioritise patriotism, humanitarianism and a sense of collective responsibility as the country works towards strengthening unity in diversity and interfaith harmony.

He concluded with prayers for justice across the world, peace in the Middle East, stability in Africa and prosperity for Ghana.
