The Deputy Executive Director of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOSAG), William Kodzo Krakani, has warned that members risk losing the full benefits of their pensions if the government fails to implement a revised salary structure and improved conditions of service.
Speaking to Citi News on Thursday, March 12, Mr. Krakani said that although the current administration did not initiate discussions on the salary structure, it remains responsible for ensuring its implementation, as governance is a continuous process.
He stressed that failing to act on the agreed structure could have serious implications for the retirement benefits of civil and local government staff.
A visit to several institutions in the Ho Municipality, including the Ho Municipal Assembly, revealed significant service disruptions, with many offices remaining closed amid a strike that began on Monday.
Mr. Krakani maintained that CLOSAG members will continue to withdraw their services until the government implements the revised salary structure and addresses their concerns.
“The public should ask the government why they are not paying us,” he urged.
