Eid al-Fitr Holidays set for March 20 and March 23

The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, has announced that this year’s Eid al-Fitr holidays will be observed for two days.

According to the Minister, the holidays will fall on Friday, March 20, 2026, and Monday, March 23, 2026, fulfilling a campaign promise made by the National Democratic Congress to the Muslim community.

Mr Mubarak announced this during the first session of his annual Iftar gathering held at the Kumasi Central Mosque on Friday, March 13, where he met with residents from four wards in the constituency.

The wards included Akwatialine, New Zongo, Asawase East and Asawase West, out of the fifteen wards that make up the constituency.

The event brought together several political and community leaders, including the municipal chief executives for Asokore Mampong, Oforikrom and Old Tafo, as well as constituency executives, council of elders, ward coordinators and branch executives of the party.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Mubarak urged residents and party members to use the holy month of Ramadan to pray for the success of the administration of John Dramani Mahama and his appointees.

He said the country was moving in the right direction and called on supporters to remain patient with the government as it works to address challenges inherited from the past eight years.

The Asawase Constituency MP also assured residents that the area would benefit from ongoing development initiatives, revealing that several projects were underway.

These include the construction of AstroTurf pitches, roads, classroom blocks and community health centres across the constituency.

Alhaji Muntaka said the government remained committed to fulfilling its promises while ensuring that development reaches all parts of the country, including the Asawase Constituency.
