As part of activities to mark this year’s International Women’s Month, women of Global Media Alliance spent time with over 100 girls of Accra STEM Academy in an engaging and educational session focused on menstrual health, hygiene and confidence building.

Opening the session, the Chief Director of Global Media Alliance, Emma Wenani, explained that the visit formed part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives and its commitment to supporting and inspiring young girls through education and mentorship.

,She encouraged the students to be confident in themselves, focus on their education, and never feel shy about the natural changes they experience as young women.

“We are here today because we believe in you and your future. Do not be shy about who you are or the changes you go through. Stay confident, take your education seriously and believe that you can achieve anything you set your mind to,” she said.

The main session for the day was led by Mrs Eunice Tornyi, who took the girls through an interactive discussion on menstrual health. She educated them on the normality of menstruation, how to properly take care of themselves during their period, how to correctly wear sanitary pads, how to properly dispose of used sanitary pads and the importance of being comfortable discussing menstrual health issues with parents, guardians or teachers.

Following the session, the girls actively participated in a question-and-answer segment, asking several questions and seeking clarification on menstrual health and personal hygiene, highlighting their curiosity and eagerness to learn more about the subject.

At the end of the engagement, Global Media Alliance, in partnership with INVECO Group, donated sanitary pads to the girls to support them in managing their menstrual health comfortably and confidently.

The Headmaster of Accra STEM Academy, Mr Prince Agortey, expressed appreciation to Global Media Alliance for the visit and for educating the girls on such an important topic.

“We are grateful to Global Media Alliance for taking the time to educate our girls on menstrual health. This knowledge is very important for their confidence, health and personal development, and we truly appreciate this initiative,” he said.

The outreach forms part of activities by Global Media Alliance to mark International Women’s Month, with a health talk scheduled as the final activity to conclude the month-long celebration.
