The Member of Parliament for Afram Plains South, Joseph Appiah Boateng, has praised the Mahama administration saying it has outperformed the previous government across key sectors of the economy.
Speaking during debate on the State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, Mr Boateng cited improvements in infrastructure, agriculture, public finance management and economic stability as evidence of a clear shift in governance and delivery.
According to the legislator, several major infrastructure projects are underway in his constituency, including road links connecting Adawso to Ekye Bridge, Amanfrom to Agodeke, and Kwame Oppong Nkwanta to Akyem Agogo. He said the projects, which are at various stages of completion, are expected to improve access for farmers, traders and commuters.
Expressing optimism, Mr Boateng said the completion of these projects would open up communities and alleviate long-standing challenges faced by residents.
The MP also highlighted agricultural interventions introduced by President Mahama, including the distribution of 10,000 birds to farmers under the government’s “Nkoko nkitinkiti” flagship programme. The initiative aims to boost local poultry production, increase household incomes and strengthen food security.
He added that an ultra-modern farmers’ centre under construction in the constituency would provide technical support, training and storage facilities for local farmers.
On public finance, Mr Boateng said Afram Plains South has recently received significantly higher development funding, enabling stalled projects to resume. He noted that statutory payments to district assemblies are now up to date, allowing assembly members to perform their duties more effectively.
“President Mahama has demonstrated strong commitment to development in Afram Plains South. Over GHS18 million has been allocated to Afram Plains South for developmental projects – an immense improvement compared to the GHS300,000 received in 2024 under the previous Akufo-Addo-led government. Clearly, the President is working diligently for the good of the people. It therefore raises questions as to why some individuals continue to undermine and dishonour his efforts. One must ask – why the persistent opposition to every positive step taken by this administration?” he quizzed.
Mr Boateng also pointed to reductions in fuel and food prices, improved currency stability, and the absence of power supply disruptions as indicators of economic recovery.
“The cost of doing business has reduced, and ordinary people are beginning to feel some relief,” he added.
