The National Service Authority (NSA) has directed all National Service Personnel posted to institutions under the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) to continue reporting to work despite the ongoing industrial action declared by the association.
This comes on the back of the ongoing strike action by CLOGSAG, which began on March 9, over the government’s failure to improve their conditions of service.
The National Labour Commission invited both parties to a hearing on March 11, 2026, but the leadership of CLOGSAG failed to attend the meeting. The Commission has rescheduled the hearing to March 18.
In a statement on Thursday, March 12, 2026, the authority clarified that National Service Personnel were not parties to the strike action and were therefore not required to participate in it.
“The National Service Authority wishes to inform all National Service Personnel currently deployed to institutions under the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana that they are not parties to the ongoing industrial action declared by the association,” the statement said.
The authority emphasised that National Service Personnel were not members of the association and were therefore not covered by the strike action.
“The Authority wishes to emphasise that National Service Personnel are not members of CLOGSAG and therefore not covered by the strike action,” it added.
According to the NSA, all affected personnel were required to continue reporting to their assigned workplaces and perform their duties as expected.
“Accordingly, all National Service Personnel serving in institutions under CLOGSAG are required to continue reporting to their respective places of posting and carry out their assigned duties as expected,” the authority said.
Management of the authority urged the personnel to remain committed to their national duty and support the institutions where they had been posted.
“Management, therefore, urges all affected NSPs to remain committed to their national duty and offer their services in support of the institutions to which they have been assigned,” the statement added.
The authority expressed appreciation to National Service Personnel for their cooperation and dedication to national development.
