Eight people have been killed and 27 others injured following a fatal road accident at Tahiru Akura in the Kintampo North Municipality of the Bono East Region.

The crash occurred in the early hours of Friday, April 3, at about 3 a.m., involving a Benz cargo truck travelling towards Kumasi and a Hyundai bus heading to Widana in the Bawku area.

The two vehicles reportedly collided head-on, resulting in multiple casualties and leaving several passengers trapped in the wreckage.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service were dispatched to the scene to rescue victims, some of whom were extricated from the mangled vehicles.

The injured were rushed to the Kintampo Government Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

The Kintampo North Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Donkor, visited the hospital to assess the situation and interact with some of the victims.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased, including the Hyundai bus driver, Yusuf Abdul Nasiru, have been deposited at the Kintampo Municipal Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.
