The Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, Ernest Norgbey, has thrown his weight behind the appointment of Carlos Queiroz as head coach of Ghana’s senior national football team, the Black Stars.
The endorsement comes at a time when the Black Stars are undergoing a period of transition, following mixed performances in recent competitions that have drawn criticism from fans and football analysts alike.
Many Ghanaians called for a strategic overhaul of the team, including technical leadership, player development, and overall management of the national side.
Speaking to Citi News, the MP emphasised that appointing an experienced, globally respected coach like Carlos Queiroz could provide the technical direction and discipline needed to reposition the team for success on the international stage.
According to him, Queiroz’s extensive coaching background and reputation within global football circles make him a strong candidate to lead the rebuilding process, instilling both tactical discipline and a renewed sense of purpose among players.
“He comes to the table with a wealth of experience and I think his tactical discipline, etc., will propel the team. I am sure even the players will have that kind of respect for him because this is a coach with international repute.
“So I might say that at least for once, the GFA has taken a decision that will yield to the benefit of the Black Stars and I am happy for the choice that they have made at this point.
“Now what we need to do is to rebuild the national team, rebuild the Black Stars, restore confidence and let Ghanaians feel that this is the Black Stars we have been yearning for.”
