Revellers and holidaymakers thronged beaches in Takoradi on Easter Monday, enjoying time with family, friends, and loved ones.
Vienna, Alan, and Last Hour beaches were crowded, with bars and seashores filled with people swimming and engaging in leisure activities. Khebab and popcorn stands were stationed at vantage points, while some visitors rode horses for fun. Hawkers capitalised on the holiday by selling food, drinks, and other items.
Mrs Cecilia Mensah, a holidaymaker, said the occasion was an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and strengthen bonds with family.
“On an occasion where Christ has risen, celebrating a day like this with my children means that we are having good times together to the glory of God,” she told Ghana News Agency (GNA), urging Christians to show love and compassion.
Mr Michael Kwasi Teye added that Easter Monday was a time to celebrate and connect peacefully with loved ones, while avoiding activities that could compromise security at the beaches.
Elsewhere, shopping malls, pubs, and entertainment centres also attracted large crowds.
At Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Cathedral in Takoradi, a mass for the aged was followed by a picnic, with church societies bringing food and drinks to share. The event culminated in dancing as the church band provided music, bringing together both youth and the elderly.
